Job Summary:  

Messer’s Global Sustainability Office is an entrepreneurial and agile group of results-oriented and collaborative practitioners responsible for integrating sustainable practices and principles into Messer’s operations around the world. The team reports to the CEO and works closely with senior leadership in the corporate and regional organization to stay ahead of emerging sustainability policy, to drive progress on environmental, social and governance commitments, to manage sustainability reporting, data and tools, and to engage stakeholders to support and contribute. We work in an environment of partnership, personal development and collaboration in a program-based consulting model to meet the challenges of today’s fast-changing sustainability landscape while creating value for our customers and stakeholders.

Principal Responsibilities: 

Sustainability reporting 

  • Manage preparation of annual sustainability reports 
  • Understand the global regulatory frameworks (e.g., CSRD, EU Taxonomy) 
  • Prepare and analyze ESG reports and key performance indicators, ensuring accuracy, relevance, and adherence to relevant reporting frameworks (e.g., CSRD, GRI, SASB, TCFD) 
  • Monitor sustainability performance metrics and develop analyses  
  • Understand and analyze data required for carbon accounting 
  • Develop and maintain appropriate documentation for data sources, reports, progress trackers, KPIs, and other related material 
  • Understand and lead compliance with the global regulatory frameworks (e.g., CSRD, EU Taxonomy) 
  • Evaluate, identify, and monitor company reporting, gaps, and improvement opportunities and develop approaches to improve 
  • Develop data management and reporting structures and mechanisms to ensure real-time performance and assessment against metrics and goals to ensure transparency and accountability 

Project management 

  • Drive execution of one or more cross-functional projects with consistent delivery of results  
  • Define scope and manages deliverables to meet project goals / benefits  
  • Plan and execute tasks against aggressive schedules in a rapidly evolving environment  
  • Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies  
  • Ensure the right KPIs are in the place to measure results and sustainability  
  • Understand business drivers and levers to meet business targets with flexibility, speed, and determination  
  • Display a consultative approach to problem solving with transferability of skills and knowledge (use of questions, and business, continuous improvement, and project management tools & frameworks)   
  • Able to manage multiple activities while working effectively under pressure/deadlines  
  • Able to adapt approach and output with guidance from senior team members   
  • Results-orientated, with good business savvy and business sense. Experience in business, and ability to build  general appreciation of the different parts of Messer’s business and organization quickly.  
  • Basic understanding of a P&L and business processes. 
  • Understand the general capabilities uses of ERP and other systems across Messer’s landscape and how business warehousing / datasphere can support their reporting and analytical activities 

Analytical and critical thinking 

  • Analyze and synthesize data to develop insights that inform executive/corporate/regional recommendations 
  • See the big picture while still providing good attention to details; able to quantify benefit and identify priorities, trade-off and solution options 
  • Prepare business models  
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of our methodologies 

Communication and stakeholder management 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, excellent graphic presentation skills, and the ability to present in front of large groups 
  • Strong command of the English language, both verbal and written   
  • Must be committed to treating colleagues, partners, and clients with dignity and respect at all times 
  • Must be able to influence stakeholders across regions and functions

Basic Qualifications:  

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Sustainability, Project Management or related field 
  • Minimum 3 years business analyst experience 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Master's in Business Administration 
  • Experience with ESG tools/software
