What are the responsibilities and job description for the COMMUNICATIONS ASSISTANT position at United States Senate?
U.S. Senator Patty Murray (D-WA) seeks a communications assistant based in the Washington, D.C. office, whose role will support work across the Senator’s personal office and committee work. Responsibilities include managing a press intern, media monitoring, press list management, and drafting talking points, releases, and other content as needed. While this role will primarily be focused on supporting the press team, this member will also work alongside a digital assistant and support the digital director. The ideal applicant is a solid writer who can thrive working within a team in a dynamic environment. This is a writing-intensive role that will require an ability to condense and simplify complicated information to convey why legislation matters to local communities. Travel may be required at times. Previous communications, video editing, or other relevant experience is a plus. Pacific Northwest experience or connections preferred.
The salary for this position is $60,000 annually.
