Position Description
U.S. Soccer is seeking an experienced storyteller to manage social media content for the U.S. Men's National Team. Our content team aims to grow the sport of soccer by deepening fan engagement and elevating the profile of the U.S. Soccer Federation, its teams, and players.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who understands audience behavior across various social media platforms and can create thumb-stopping posts in a variety of mediums that drive engagement. This role will manage the USMNT social media content calendar to ensure year-round visibility and planning for tentpole events. This role will conceptualize social media campaigns in collaboration with the Content Strategy team to develop content in various formats and for key events, including original series, branded content, and game / camp coverage, with the goal of growing and engaging our audience.
We prioritize data-driven decisions to craft engaging, platform-specific content that supports our goals of deepening fan engagement, growing reach, increasing relevancy and driving revenue.
The role requires versatility, quick thinking, using data to make informed social decisions and the ability to work under pressure. Travel to team events, camps, and games is required and when not traveling, working out of our Atlanta offices.
Occasionally, the role will assist with other Federation programs, including Youth National Teams, Professional Leagues, Open Cup, Coaching, Refereeing, Membership, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities
- Manage social media platforms aligned with U.S. Soccer's short and long-term goals in effort to raise the profile of U.S. Soccer its athletes and staff, while generating engaging content.
- Ability to work in fast-paced environment while identifying storylines, narratives and opportunities that we can capitalize on in the moment.
- Working alongside the video and creative team to make sure that our content is optimized for each social platform.
- Develop and plan content calendar to ensure that our channels and brand stay top of mind on the channels we are active on.
- Work alongside the Content Strategy team to develop new content ideas for social channels.
- Demonstrate sound judgment to curate, prioritize, and publish posts that are consistent with brand messaging, but also with an eye to expand and engage our audiences.
- Work with Director of Social Media, Content Strategy and Partnerships Marketing team to identify and ideate potential partner-branded content while executing contracted content.
- Cover live events across multiple platforms and create in-the-moment content to engage social audiences.
- Partner with insights and analytics teams to set learning agenda and incorporate findings into real-time improvements for social content.
- Have and maintain an in-depth knowledge of best practices and remain at the forefront of innovation for each platform.
- Promote inclusivity, conversation and engagement on platforms by joining in relevant conversations and aligning with meaningful cultural trends.
- Assist in U.S. Soccer influencer program by finding new high-profile fans and ideating ways to activate around big events.
