Position Description
In this role, you will lead the marketing strategy to drive ecommerce revenue growth via Legends, other USSF platforms including the USSF app, ussoocer.com, store.ussoccer.com, all social platforms, and other third-party platforms where required. This role requires deep D2C ecommerce, retail and digital transformation experience, preferably from within the fashion industry.
You will be a key partner in the development of all go-to market strategies and trading for all revenue channels, including new market entry and expansion plans, identifying new revenue opportunities and translating them into marketing plans for all existing and new product launches as defined by the CPG team. Led by data and insights, you will coordinate closely with CPG, Legends, Nike and other partners to share all audience insights and sentiment to help influence product and platform development road maps.
You will help create and embed a commercial marketing culture across the marketing team, building relationships and working closely with CPG, Analytics, Insiders, Content, Creative and Product to improve ways of working.
You will seek opportunities to build ecommerce capabilities and upskill the marketing team while delivering against growth ambitions. As a Senior Manager with vision, you will regularly help in the presentation to senior stakeholders and partners, supporting both VPs.
You will lead the strategy and planning of all ecommerce marketing initiatives across the full digital estate and media mix including paid media, CRM, owned & operated platforms, social and influencers. This will be achieved by working with the Growth Manager and agency on a paid media plan, establishing a drive calendar for all member and fan communications and ensuring buy in from other teams where necessary.
An excellent understanding of consumer trends with a keen eye for emerging storylines from our brand and teams, you will use data management, behavioral segmentation, and engagement to drive revenue and LTV as we seek to build a D2C ecommerce growth model founded on quality audience insights. You will have significant expertise within a D2C ecommerce business, leading across the full marketing mix with a strong focus on planning and measurement.
You will be a dynamic leader, adept at building relationships and influencing others, flexible and adaptable in nature and able to work within a fast paced and dynamic environment.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications
- Reporting into the VP, Integration Marketing, Brand & Operations with a dotted line into the VP, Consumer Products, lead the D2C ecommerce marketing plan accelerating revenue growth.
- Lead on an ambitious ecommerce marketing strategy across the full marketing mix including owned and operated platforms, Social, CRM, performance and influencer marketing.
- Present and sell-in proposals, business cases and investment for future marketing and growth opportunities to senior management.
- Work closely with CPG and Finance to help evaluate and forecast commercial forecasts and performance.
- Analyze sales and marketing campaign performance to evaluate product sell through, and new product development with new audiences.
- Manage the full marketing mix (CRM, performance marketing, social, web, app and influencers) growth strategy, maximize effective spend against specific channel KPI’s to deliver results and acquisition.
- Working closely with CRM Manager, drive e-CRM strategy forwards, leading our acceleration across personalization and automation and defining our e-CRM programs key consumer facing programs e.g. Birthday. Use all learnings to work with Legends on USSF retention, identifying levers to increase repeat purchase, CLTV and brand loyalty.
- Aligning with the content and creative teams, ensure CPG opportunities are present as part of all match days, tournaments and training camps, physically and digitally.
- Develop robust marketing strategies across all new product and kit launches across the full funnel.
- Feed into the Integrated Marketing calendar to ensure full promotion planning aligned to budgets and revenue targets with wider Federation support clearly laid out.
- Working with the CPG team and key partners, identify new opportunities to enhance the consumer experience and create immersive brand engagement and frictionless shopping.
Desired Qualifications
- You will have significant experience in ecommerce marketing, ideally across big DTC brands and preferably within the fashion or sports industry. A strategic marketer and commercial thinker combined with a self-starter who is entrepreneurial and has creative flair for storytelling that inspires and converts.
- You will be obsessed with our fans and members, and their ecommerce experience across their lifetime, understanding how best to achieve conversion throughout the marketing funnel and what it takes to grow loyal purchasing behavior. Excellent knowledge of digital marketing, social platforms, SEO, CRO, UX and analytics tools is a must, as is your ability to turn data into insight for better decisions. You must be a strong advocate for customer experience excellence with an ability to motivate cross-functional teams and third-party partners.
- Previously held a senior DTC ecommerce management position including successfully developing and implementing ecommerce marketing & CRM strategies and plans with proven ability to deliver revenue targets (Beauty/Fashion/ Retail/ Sport industry experience preferred).
- Solid understanding of analytics with the ability to analyze data and make actionable insights to drive strategy and decision making.
- Previous budget management experience ensuring a healthy net profit across the ecommerce business
- Significant experience designing and executing marketing strategy around the different user journeys via digital marketing channels including search, social, display, affiliates, CRM and influencers.
- Excellent knowledge of digital marketing channels, media buying and compelling growth techniques with a target driven approach.
- Expert knowledge of social media platforms, as well as a knowledge of market specific social channels.
- Excellent understanding of tools and techniques used in marketing, audience planning, SEO, UX and CRO.
- Extensive written and verbal communication skills, ability to listen effectively, constructively challenge and be forward thinking to build agreement and alignment across teams.

- Be a change maker, able to influence & energize people and build collaborative relationships.
- Experienced in embedding a trading culture and ability to upskill own and other teams.

- Experience identifying different sports trends and scenes on a regional and national level.
- Must be a collaborative communicator as a thought partner for senior management and partners.
- Able and willing to work non-traditional hours including evenings, weekends & holidays. Travel up to 10% of the time to all domestic U.S. Soccer controlled matches.
