U. S. Steel Tubular Products is seeking a Technical Sales Manager. The Technical Sales Manager will drive technical and commercial excellence by cultivating relationships with customers, supporting market growth, and actively engaging in product innovation. The role emphasizes technical sales activities, customer support, and strong understanding of industry standards.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Development of technical relationships with all USS customers with a special emphasis directed at on shore shale operators requiring the qualification of U. S. Steel premium connections, proprietary high collapse and sour service casing grades, and if necessary U. S. Steel Tubular Products manufacturing facilities. Target operators include super-majors, large independents and small independents that are active in the Permian, Eagle ford, Haynesville, Appalachia and the Rockies.
- Technical sales and service activities supporting the market penetration and market share growth of the U. S. Steel Tubular Products family of proprietary premium connections. Specific activities include technical presentations, customer visits, technical market analysis, oversight of customer qualification testing programs and support/training of U. S. Steel Tubular products commercial personnel.
- Active participation on behalf of U.S. Steel Tubular Products in API technical work groups, sub-committees and standards development.
- Providing guidance and input to the company’s product development and innovation process in the areas of premium connections and tubular technology, driven by feedback and interaction with oil & gas end users and their operating environments.
- Routine sales functions such as customer visits, preparation and submission of technical and commercial proposals, phone, and on-site technical service as requested in support of the sale of Oil Country Tubular Goods (OCTG) to the domestic industry.
- A Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or Metallurgical Engineering, is preferred, although degrees in related fields will also be considered.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in the oil and gas industry with a focus on OCTG technical service and/or experience working in the drilling or completion fields at a domestic E&P or oilfield services company.
- Additional experience in premium OCTG connections and oilfield services is an asset.
- Strong verbal/written communication and presentation skills.
- Results oriented with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Ability and willingness to travel.
