Summary
The Cheese-Epicurean Specialist first and foremost is responsible for guest relations and satisfaction. He/She will provide guest service up to and exceeding company standards by educating guests on our Epicurean products.

The Cheese-Epicurean Specialist first and foremost is responsible for guest relations and satisfaction. He/She will provide guest service up to and exceeding company standards by educating guests on our Epicurean products.
Key Responsibilities
- Learn and memorize hand-cut cheese set and ensure all team members working the Epicurean department have mastered the set
- Uphold standards set for cutting each variety of cheese and displays within each Epicurean case
- Merchandise and upkeep of the retail cases including signage, promotional materials and cleanliness; each case is to be organized at the beginning and ending of each shift and as needed throughout the day
- Maintain proper dates, rotation and shrink control in all Epicurean cases
- Follow and maintain all Epicurean and Food Service policies, procedures and programs as laid out by company guidelines
- Maintain calendar of cheese out of dates; the cheese is logged on the day that it goes out of date along with the quantity that was cut; the expectation is that there is never any out of date cheese on the sales floor
- Promote a specialty cheese of the week that follows the Cheese of the Month program and/or a special Epicurean product
- Ensure proper food safety and sanitation procedures are performed and maintained at all times; the safety of our guests and team members is our number one priority.
- Try all new products as they are introduced and train Epicurean team members on the new products
- Maintain ongoing specialty cheese demo program and monitor and verify weekly price changes
- Must be able to order all specialty cheese products from all current partners
- Must be able to place accurate holiday orders that will allow the department to sell the holiday products with a minimum amount of shrink; must review past holiday sales numbers to complete new holiday orders
- Follow the Market Street Food Service Merchandise guidelines as listed in the Manual
- Maintain product at proper temperatures and ensure proper food safety and sanitation procedures are performed
- Attend all mandatory cheese education classes
- Provide a $3.00 basket in cheese case of small portions of cheese for the guest to try new products
- Must have a desire to increase cheese knowledge
- Performs other duties as requested or required by management
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of 6 months of food service experience
- Must be able to work in a fast, efficient and controlled manner
- Team members should be knowledgeable about each Epicurean item that is sampled and sold in order to educate our guests
- Work a flexible schedule as required by the day to day business and Department Manager
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. and stand for long periods of time up to 8 hours
- Perform all other physical aspects of the job including bending, squatting, lifting, climbing, and walking
- Maintain a current Food Safety certification
- Ability to function as a team member and get along with others
