What are the responsibilities and job description for the Self Check Out position at United Supermarkets?
The Self Checkout Specialist first and foremost is responsible to our guests for building a reputation for Ultimate Service. He/she is the attendant for the self checkout registers. He/she is responsible for welcoming guests, engaging them in conversation, and educating them on the operations of the registers. He/she is responsible for constant monitoring and assisting guests and ensuring they have a positive experience.
Key Responsibilities:
When a guest enters my area or department, my first and most important responsibility becomes to acknowledge, greet, and engage that guest
Follows daily work schedule as assigned by management
Follows dress code in accordance with team member handbook
Greets and communicates politely to each guest on premises
Responsible for ensuring guests have a positive experience while using the self checkout registers
Must be attentive at all times to needs of guests and be ready and able to assist at all times
Must be attentive at all times to ensure all items are scanned at the register correctly
Properly ID customers per company policy when purchasing alcohol and/or tobacco products
Encourage guest participation in satisfaction survey
Encourage guest participation in rewards program
Encourage guest participation in promotional programs when applicable (e.g. Monopoly Game, Rewards Promotions, etc.)
Responsible for monitoring conditions of registers including cleanliness and supplies
Responsible for learning the procedures for all functions regarding walk-offs, voids, overrides, and all other interventions that may arise
Responsible for recording and troubleshooting any issues with the self checkout registers
Performs other duties as directed by management
Key Requirements:
Must complete the “Becoming SCO Pro certified” training course
Must maintain Alcohol Seller/Server Certification
Must have previous experience as a cashier
Must be able to multitask and assist multiple guests at one time
Must be able to initiate conversations with guests
Must be able to stand for long periods of time (up to 6 hours)
Must be available to work during the hours of self checkout operations
Ability to work at fast-paced but efficient and controlled manner
Ability to perform all physical aspects of checker/sacker/stocker duties including but not limited to bending, lifting, walking, squatting, climbing and at times running
Ability to operate all checking equipment, keep accurate records, count money and make change
Ability to lift to a height of 4 feet, items weighing up to 40 lbs. on a regular basis
Ability to accept supervisory coaching related to performance, work habits and attitude
Ability to function as a team member and get along with others
