United Support Services, Inc., a La Jolla based Engineering and Technology company, has an exciting new opportunity and is currently looking to add a Wood Worker to our Warehouse team to support our facility on U.S. Naval Air Station in Lemoore, CA. The Woodworker constructs and repairs items such as boxes, crates, pallets, and storage bins from wood and wood substitutes, studies specifications; and measures, marks, and cuts boards, using patterns, templates, ruler, pencil, and hand and power saws. This worker fastens or installs parts, using hammer, nailing machine, or power staple, repairs defective containers by replacing damaged parts, inserts wood bracings, cardboard files, and felt pads in containers. This incumbent may build crate around object, using ruler, hand tools, and pneumatic nailer, may fabricate, repair, modify, and replace woodwork on vehicle sides and beds, apply preservative to prolong wood life, and may pack, seal, band, and apply markings to crates and containers.
Task and Responsibilities:
- Ensure proper material management services which will ensure aircraft are appropriately maintained and mission ready.
- Constructs and repairs items such as boxes, crates, pallets, and storage bins from wood and wood substitutes, studies specifications.
- This worker fastens or installs parts, using hammer, nailing machine, or power staple, repairs defective containers by replacing damaged parts, inserts wood bracings, cardboard files, and felt pads in containers.
- Build crate around object, using ruler, hand tools, and pneumatic nailer, may fabricate, repair, modify, and replace woodwork on vehicle sides and beds, apply preservative to prolong wood life, and may pack, seal, band, and apply markings to crates and containers.
- In the event there are no specific carpentry/woodworker tasks requirements, the incumbent will be trained to perform other warehouse duties to facilitate the F-35 warehouse operation.
- Any and all other duties as assigned by the Program Manager/Site Manager.
Experience and Requirement
- Shall have a minimum of five (5) years specialized wood working experience.
- Must have and maintain a valid State Driver’s License if the use of a government vehicle is required with billet.
Required education/skills background:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Must be authorized to work in the United States (U.S.).
- Ability to become proficient using the automated logistics information system (ALIS).
- Shall be able to obtain a DOD CAC card privileges to ensure access to flight line workspaces and critical information systems.
- Each contractor employee must have a favorably completed NACLC or T3 or T3R equivalent investigation to obtain a favorable determination for assignment to a non-critical sensitive or IT-II position. The investigation consists of a standard NAC and an FBI fingerprint check plus law enforcement checks and credit check. Each contractor employee filling a non-critical sensitive or IT-II position is required to complete:
- SF-86 Questionnaire for National Security Positions (or equivalent Office of Personnel Management (OPM) investigative product)
- Two (2) FD-258 Applicant Fingerprint Cards (or an electronic fingerprint submission
- Original Signed Release Statements
Physical Demands:
The physical job requirement involves, but is not limited to, walking, reaching, bending-over, concentration in the presence of noise, lifting items up to 50 lbs., and traversing narrow passageways, climbing ladders/stairs, and operating in confined spaces and in buildings with a potential to operate onboard naval vessels and barges. Normal color/depth perception required.
Work Environment (ADA):
May be required to work in areas in or near a hangar/flight line that may be noisy at times. May be exposed to moderate discomforts, such as heat, cold and wind. May be required to wear personal protective equipment when in or passing through a hazardous area.
