What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2nd Shift Forklift Driver - Lumber Plant position at United Treating & Distribution, LLC?
JOB OVERVIEW
- Load, unload, and transport wood in the Treating Plant.
- This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday with 8 to 12-hour shifts including some Saturdays. The shift start time is 12:30 pm. Weekly work schedules are shared in advance.
- This position is paid hourly and eligible for overtime pay.
- No travel is expected for this position.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Always adhere to yard rules of operation.
- Operate machinery per UTD, OSHA, and product-specific standards.
- Maintain and protect all property entrusted to you in excellent condition.
- Perform the daily tasks of treating wood, loading, unloading the cylinder, tagging wood, repackaging, repairing bundles, and redistributing wood back into the yard to the proper location and status.
- Meet treating process change out goals.
- Rotate wood on the yard according to the rotation plan.
- Load and unload wood daily carefully while not damaging the wood.
- Be heavily involved in the maintenance and upkeep of the treating plant per the maintenance schedule.
- Properly complete daily production paperwork associated with loading and unloading wood in the treating plant.
- Complete all daily paperwork necessary to operate the equipment.
- Attend daily pre-shift meetings.
- Communicate needs and issues directly to Team Lead.
- Be on time and remain in compliance with Company Handbook.
- Complete any other tasks assigned by the VP of Operations or Operations Manager.
EXPERIENCE
REQUIRED:
- Must have a valid driver’s license.
- Forklift experience with UTD certification or the ability to demonstrate safe handling of a forklift in an onsite test.
PREFERRED:
- Warehouse and/or manufacturing experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

- Ability to multitask safely in a fast-paced environment while paying attention to details.
- Strong communication skills and a team player.
- Familiarity with safety protocols, PPE, and SOP’s.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- May require prolonged standing, sitting, driving, and forklift vibration.
- Must be able to properly handle wood which may require climbing, balance, stooping, crouching, walking, and lifting.
- Must be able to work outside in all weather conditions; heat, cold, rain, snow, humidity; fumes, and airborne particles.
- Must be able to lift/carry 40 pounds or more.
