Position Title: Director of Individual Giving
Reports To: Vice President Major Gifts
FLSA Status: Exempt
Position Summary:
Responsible for growth in fundraising and engagement of donors in United Way’s Donor Networks and individuals otherwise not solicited through a traditional workplace campaign. These segments include but are not limited to: Women United, J. Mason Davis Leadership Society, Young Philanthropists, Builders, and retirees.
Responsibilities:
• Responsible for managing a mid-level giving program including all UWCA leadership donors.
• Oversee portfolios of the entire Individual Giving team, including assignment of prospects and monitoring overall activity.
• Implement annual strategy to increase donors and dollars generated from individuals who are not solicited through a traditional workplace campaign.
• Provide supervision and clear direction for Individual Gift Officers.
• Responsible for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of Builder Society.
• Prospect for both new and existing donors who can increase their current level of giving.
• Regularly collaborate with other departments to achieve coordination of activities.
• Prepare required fundraising reports and share strategies with other United Ways.
• Organize and maintain current leadership donor files in partnership with the Individual Giving Officers.
• Acts as United Way representative at various community functions, donor engagement events, and divisional committees maintaining high visibility and continual relationship building.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Knowledge & Skills:
• Genuine interest in the mission of United Way of Central Alabama.
• The ability to work in a team setting and work independently.
• Excellent customer service to donors and volunteers.
• Excellent verbal and written communication aptitude.
• Capable of handling numerous tasks at once while meeting deadlines.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience:
At least five years of experience in fundraising, sales, or related field required. Supervisory experience preferred.
Required:
Reliable transportation, proof of automobile insurance and valid driver’s license.
Working Conditions:
Normal office environment involves some travel and occasional overtime.
