GENERAL FUNCTION : As a member of the United Way of Greater Cincinnati leadership team, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will assume a strategic role in the fiscal management of the United Way of Greater Cincinnati (UWGC) and United Way of Greater Cincinnati Foundation (UWGCF). The CFO will be responsible for leading the Finance & Operations team, financial planning, cash and investment management, risk management, financial reporting, audit and tax compliance, strategic leadership of financial systems and leadership of all facility activities. This role also assists the CEO in partnering with UWGC and UWGCF Board volunteers serving on finance and investment related committees.KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY : Financial PlanningParticipate in key decisions as a member of the Leadership Team.Partners closely with the Chief Development Officer to provide financial insights into fundraising strategies, revenue diversification, and major gifts / endowment management.Evaluate and advise on the financial impact of the long-range strategic planning or the introduction of new programs / initiatives / strategies.Provide all levels of management with advice on the financial implications of business activities, including contingency planning for economic downturns, emergency response funding, and scenario planning.Leadership and development of the annual UWGC operating and capital budgets including any long-range multi-year financial plans.Cash and Investment ManagementPartners with Board volunteers and investment advisors on the efficient management of UWGC and UWGCF policies for reserves and endowment funds.Financial Reporting and OperationsLeads the development of internal and external financial reporting and associated financial disclosures.Leads all financial operations including expense and grant allocations, financial grant management, revenue recognition and monitoring.Develop understanding of the total operations of UWGC to determine and implement financial requirements, adequacy of controls and necessary policies, systems, and procedures to facilitate efficient administration and financial control of the UWGC operations.Responsible for improving efficiency across various departments, implementing best practices in financial controls, and ensuring cross-functional alignmentFinancial RelationsWork collaboratively with the UWGC and UWGCF Boards and related committees, internal staff partners, brokers, bankers, investment advisors, insurance agents, legal and contract support, facility contractors, and other partners as necessary.Leads storytelling of financial data—helping stakeholders, donors, and community partners understand financial priorities and impact in a way that supports broader organizational goals.Effectively manage and administer the UWGC employee 403(b) plan, corporate insurance programs and other risk management activities.Audit and Tax ComplianceOversee the annual audits and associated tax returns of UWGC, UWGC Foundation, and 403(b) Plan by an external audit firm.Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with GAAP, UWW reporting requirements and applicable federal, state and local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.Team LeadershipHire and develop team of directors, managers and individual contributors in the Finance and Operations team including establishing goals, providing performance feedback, recognizing and rewarding team accomplishments, supporting training, learning and / or other growth opportunities, and ensuring an inclusive pool of talent with adequate bench strength.QUALIFICATIONS : Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or economicsMaster's degree in finance or accounting or CPA license preferred.Knowledge of Nonprofit GAAP, GAAS and federal grant accounting preferredAbility to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organizationProven problem-solving skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisionsbased on accurate and timely data driven analysisHigh level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientationSeven years of experience in accounting or related fieldFive years management experience.WORKING CONDITIONS : Normal office environment with little exposure to dust, noise, temperature, and the like.Occasional local travel to events within the regional area.UWGC is an Equal Opportunity Employer Committed to Diversity, Equity and Inclusion#J-18808-Ljbffr
