Position Summary:
The United Way of Greater Union County seeks a detail-oriented and organized Part-Time Accounting Clerk to join our Finance team. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the organization's financial health by assisting with a variety of accounting functions, including data entry, reconciliations, and processing transactions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Accurately enter financial transactions into accounting software (e.g., MIP, QuickBooks, Xero).
- Reconcile credit card accounts, bank statements, and other financial records to ensure accuracy.
- Process accounts payable and receivable, including verifying invoices, processing payments, and resolving discrepancies.
- Assist with employee expense reimbursements, including reviewing receipts and processing payments.
- Respond to vendor inquiries and resolve discrepancies in a timely and professional manner.
- Assist in the preparation of supporting documentation for audits and tax filings.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.
- Maintain organized and secure electronic and physical filing systems for all financial records and documents.
- Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's degree in Accounting or Finance preferred.
- Minimum of 1 year of experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., MIP, QuickBooks, Xero) is essential.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including data entry, formulas, and pivot tables.
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reporting.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication1 and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience working in a non-profit environment preferred.
