Position Overview:
We are seeking a Business Development Director to support our programs, fundraising, daily operations, event planning, and records/financial management while helping us achieve our mission and vision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Program Management: Collaborate with the team to organize events, manage volunteers, and coordinate with partner agencies across the region.
- Fundraising & Development: Assist with fundraising efforts, including donor outreach, grant writing, and event planning. Track donations and manage relationships with key donors
- Community Outreach: Engage with the community, create awareness about the organization's work, and represent the nonprofit at local events or meetings when requested.
- Administrative Support: Handle administrative tasks, such as managing 211 communications and data, scheduling meetings, preparing reports, and maintaining records.
- Marketing & Communications: Assist with creating content for social media, newsletters, and other promotional materials to highlight the United Way's work.
- Collaboration: Work with internal teams and external partners to build relationships and ensure the success of programs and events.
- 211 Support: Ensure that callers are guided to the most relevant and up-to-date services available in the area.
Job Description:
Essential Functions Of The Position:
- Fundraising: Grant writing software management and research
- Manage all gift receipting and acknowledgment processes, including providing prompt, accurate, and tailored acknowledgment communication for select donor gifts
- Collaborate with the executive director to track and manage all pledges and gifts, producing revenue reports for internal distribution; regularly meet with the executive director and senior accountant to reconcile revenue in the accounting system
- Assist the community by directing individuals to the right resources or agencies through calls to 211
- Community support via phone, events, and in-person visits
- Event planning
- Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the executive director
- Some administrative tasks required
- Analyze processes and controls; propose and implement improvements
Preferred Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in administration, social work, account management, and/or public health, with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Communications, Business Administration, or a related field. Nonprofit experience is preferred.
- PASSION FOR HELPING OTHERS AND A COMMITMENT TO OUR MISSION
- Proven experience in program management, fundraising, community outreach, or other relevant field
- Preferred experience includes: fundraising, knowledge of CRM software, event planning, administration
- Experience with grant writing software
- Familiarity with federal and state grant application processes and compliance requirements
- Knowledge of donor stewardship and fundraising strategies
- Experience with corporate sponsorships and partnerships
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, Excel, and Word
- Strong analytical, problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Highly self-motivated, detail and results-oriented
- Strong organizational and time-management skills
- Excellent customer service and communication skills (listening, interpersonal, oral, written)
- Ability to organize and prioritize daily work and multiple requests/projects/events
- Self-starter with initiative to proactively investigate discrepancies and offer process improvements
- Ability to effectively utilize accounting software (Donation Tracker)
- A high degree of professionalism, confidence, and flexibility that allows the incumbent to work collaboratively and effectively with stakeholders and colleagues
