United Way of Lane County seeks an enthusiastic and engaged Volunteer Engagement Manager.

The Volunteer Engagement Manager is responsible for managing volunteer engagement and recognition activities at United Way of Lane County (UWLC), to further connect community volunteers with community needs. This includes program management, implementation, and administrative support of short-term and larger-scale volunteer efforts. This position requires in-person collaboration and local travel, with some flexibility for remote work.

The Volunteer Engagement Manager will work with volunteers, donors, nonprofit organizations, community services groups, community partners, businesses, government, labor, faith-based organizations and UWLC staff to network and build relationships that help United Way stay connected to the community and grow partnerships. This will be balanced with detailed-oriented office work in partnership with team members from our Resource Development, Community Impact, Operations, and Marketing departments. The successful candidate will be someone who is an authentic spokesperson and champion for our work, comfortable talking both one-on-one and presenting to large groups, and is able to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF POSITION

The Volunteer Engagement Manager is responsible for supporting strategic, year-round engagement of volunteers and donors in United Way's work and must be able to perform each essential duty listed below at a satisfactory level with or without accommodation:

  • Ground community engagement activities in anti-racism, equity, intersectionality, and other areas important to social justice; participates in internal Equity Advisory Council work.
  • Lead and manage year-round skills-based volunteer programs including recruitment, training & support of volunteers, evaluation, data collection & reporting; facilitate planning and implementation of volunteer recognition events.
  • Develop opportunities to engage individual, corporate and youth volunteers to establish United Way as key volunteer resource for Lane County.
  • Provide excellent customer service/relationship management; building positive working relationships with business and professional contacts, youth, seniors, and United Way partner agencies.
  • Manage and lead annual Days of Caring event; support other volunteer projects connected to Impact work such as BookFest, special youth initiatives, corporate partnership requests and volunteer projects for affinity groups, as needed.
  • Improve volunteer evaluation, processes, and systems on a regular basis; ensure easy access to volunteer opportunities.
  • Promote volunteer opportunities through speaking opportunities, tabling events, community outreach, and online including UWLC's Volunteer website and social media.

REQUIRED/NECESSARY SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EDUCATION

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree and 3-5 years of successful fundraising or consultative sales experience, project/event management, customer relations or years of experience in volunteer management.
  • Experience in data management a plus
  • Strong analytical and modeling skills
  • Bicultural, multicultural preferred
  • Bilingual preferred, particularly Spanish/English proficiency
  • Requires a valid driver's license. Travel by car is required for this position.

Minimum Skills and Knowledge include:

  • Must be enthusiastic about volunteerism, with experience supervising volunteers.
  • High-energy individual, who takes initiative, maintains a positive outlook and can embrace change.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail while managing multiple tasks.
  • Must be able to communicate with a wide variety of people both within and outside the organizational setting.
  • Excellent communication skills - written, verbal, interpersonal, public speaking and presentation skills required.
  • Project management skills - proven ability to schedule, plan, track and complete complex projects on time.
  • Dependable, flexible and good natured with strong professional work habits.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a diverse high-performance team.
  • Experience with nonprofit volunteer organizations is preferred.
  • Comfortable with Microsoft Office Suite. Database experience is preferred.

SALARY STATEMENT


The budgeted lifespan salary range for this position is currently $51,786 to $62,143 annually. Proffered salaries are determined by several factors including applicant's knowledge, ­­­skills, experience, position, equity, and market. Deferential pay for bi-lingual, bi-cultural candidates.
