Purpose of this Role
United Way of the Columbia Willamette is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Housing Stability Coordinator to join our Housing Stability team. The HRSN (Health Related Social Needs) 
Coordinator will play a vital role in preventing and helping to resolve housing instability for OHP members experiencing housing instability. This position requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to racial equity. This person will be working with vulnerable populations and must be committed to using a trauma informed approach to serving the members in this program. 


Key Accountabilities
  • Case Management Support: Work in collaboration with HRSN Housing Stability managers to access and determine eligibility to HRSN program. Assist with determining member’s housing needs, including financial stability, support systems, and barriers to maintaining housing. Develop and implement individualized Housing Stability plans to address these needs.
  • Housing Search & Placement: Assist clients in identifying and securing safe, affordable housing options. This includes navigating the housing application process, negotiating with landlords, and securing rental assistance, and other community-based resources.
  • Tenancy Support: Work with members to address landlord/tenant issues that may impact a member’s ability to remain housed. Communicate with landlords, and inform landlords about the HRSN program, services available, and support members will receive to support their ability to remain housed.
  • Resource Navigation: Connect clients with relevant community resources, such as rental assistance programs, food banks, healthcare services, and employment support. Maintain strong relationships with local agencies and landlords.
  • Advocacy: Advocate for clients’ rights and needs, including negotiating with landlords, social service agencies, and other stakeholders.
  • Data Collection & Reporting: Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records. Collect and input data into homeless management systems, and other networking platforms like Unite Us and MMIS.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate effectively with other members of the team, community partners, and external agencies.
  • Outreach & Engagement: Participate in community outreach activities to raise awareness about the HRSN program and enroll potential members into the program.

Additional Competencies and Required Skills
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with sometimes competing priorities.

  • Possess a strong work ethic and be flexible in your approach to change.
  • Experience or trained as an OHP Assistor would be a plus.
Supervisory Direction Received:
  • This position reports to the Senior Director of Housing Stability
Working Relationships:
  • United Way staff, local, regional partners, community and nonprofit organizations, and community members.
Supervises:
  • No direct support
Education, Skills, Experience, and Training Required for this Position
  • Bachelor's degree in social work, human services, or a other related field preferred; equivalent education, work, and lived experience may be considered.
  • Three years of experience working with marginalized communities, and individuals experiencing housing instability or homelessness preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of housing resources and programs in the Portland Metro area.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, to include Excel. 
  • Ability to manage multiple and sometimes competing tasks with efficiency.
  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize tasks.
