The Senior Network Engineer is responsible for installation, configuration, troubleshooting and support of network equipment in two DC locations as well as numerous remote clinics. This role will need to be able to support remote network connections between sites, business partners and Optum Technologies. Some evening work required for network changes when the clinics are closed.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Design and implement network solutions to meet business requirements
- Configure and install network devices such as routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers
- Monitor network performance and ensure system availability and reliability
- Perform network maintenance and system upgrades, including patches, hot fixes, and security configurations
- Troubleshoot and resolve network issues, providing Level-2/3 support
- Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls and VPNs
- Collaborate with other IT personnel and vendors to resolve technical issues
- Maintain documentation of network configurations, processes, and procedures
- Stay updated with the latest networking technologies and best practices

Required Qualifications:
- 5 years of experience with Cisco Networking, VPN tunnels, Remote circuit support, wifi management, circuit routing and failover configuration
- 3 years of experience as a Network Engineer or similar role
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Certifications such as CCNP, CCIE, or CISSP
- 2 years of experience with networking protocols (e.g., IPSEC, BGP, OSPF, QoS)
- 2 years of experience mentoring other network engineers
The salary range for this role is $89,800 to $176,700 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
