What are the responsibilities and job description for the OISE Employment Specialist position at Unity House of Troy?
A new position has opened up at Northeast Career Planning for an OISE (Ongoing Integrated Supported Employment) Employment Specialist. This position is designed to provide employment support for individuals with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) in order to obtain and/or sustain competitive employment.
Responsibilities:
Support people with SMI to obtain and maintain employment within the community.
Work with other Employment Specialist and programs across Unity House of Troy to support participants.
May work in conjunction with Adult Career & Continuing Education Services -Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR).
Support individuals with their mental health treatment in order to support sustained employment.
Learn the IPS employment model and adhere to policy and procedures.
Provide regular assessments of the individuals to ensure continued success.
Directly link to appropriate mental health support services as needed.
Ensure appropriate reports are completed on time and are thorough.
Support an environment of inclusion and belonging
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in psychology or a related field preferred. Certified Peer Specialist, preferred. At least 1-year prior experience working with people with severe mental illness (SMI). Experience assisting others to obtain employment preferred. An acceptable combination of education and experience will be considered. Must have a clean and valid NYS driver license. Reliable vehicle. Must be able to spend 50% or more of scheduled work hours in the community assisting participants. Must be responsible and be able to work independently.
