About Unity: Unity is a certified preschool with a k-4th after-school program that has been open since 1974. We are in the SPARK rating system for high-quality schools at a 5-star rating. We use the HighScope curriculum emphasizing the collaborative problem-solving approach with children. Unity is nature-driven and has a large playground with a wooded environment. Responsibilities and Duties:
* Assist Teachers to plan and implement a developmental curriculum that incorporates all integral components of the Unity School program, including cultural and environmental studies, animal care, and gardening, as well as all components of a quality developmental program to meet the physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs of the enrolled children.
* Assist Teacher during circle times.
* Supervise meals and snacks to facilitate a relaxed, social mealtime.
* Work to meet needs of individual children, and create a warm, caring environment in which children feel comfortable.
* Observe and report significant individual and group behaviors to the Teacher as needed.
* Assist the Teacher in arrangement of materials available to children in an orderly and easily accessible way.
* Keep classroom, materials and supplies neat, clean and orderly.
* Ensure the safety of children through constant supervision.
* Report needed maintenance to Teacher or other appropriate staff.
* Assist with practice of fire drills and other emergency procedures.
* Assist children to develop independence and problem solving skills through conflict resolution and other appropriate child management techniques.
* Assist with field trips and other special activities.
* Participate in staff meetings, parent activities, and training activities and conferences as needed.
* Participate in the evaluation process as defined by the Unity School Personnel Policies.
* Complete at least 24 clock hours or early childhood education-related training each year to meet state licensing requirements.
* Support the philosophy of Unity School and work as part of the team to further its goals and maintain a high standard of quality throughout the program.
