The Chief Development Officer is responsible for providing leadership, strategic direction, management, and coordination for all developing corporate sponsors, fundraising and communications efforts in accordance with the nonprofits mission, goals, and policies. Chief Development Officer will be responsible for creating an annual strategy to promote and increase the organizations support from individuals, corporations, foundations, and other sources.  The Chief Development Officer (CDO) will answer directly to the CEO.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

1.  Fundraising and Revenue Generation

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy to meet and exceed revenue goals.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major donors, corporate sponsors, and foundations.
  • Oversee the planning and execution of fundraising campaigns, including events, annual appeals, and online giving initiatives.
  • Diversify revenue streams through grants, sponsorships, individual giving, and earned income opportunities.

2.  Grant Development and Management

  • Identify grant opportunities aligned with RTVs mission and develop compelling proposals.
  • Manage grant reporting requirements, ensuring compliance and timely submissions.
  • 3.  Strategic Partnerships

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with corporate, foundation, and community partners.
  • Leverage partnerships to create opportunities for collaboration and sponsorship.
  • 4.  Donor Engagement and Stewardship

  • Develop and implement a donor recognition and retention program.
  • Ensure timely and personalized communication with donors, including acknowledgment letters and impact reports.
  • 5. Team Leadership and Collaboration

  • Lead and mentor a development team, providing direction and support to achieve organizational goals.
  • Collaborate with the CEO, Board of Directors, and program staff to align fundraising efforts with RTVs mission and strategic priorities.
  • 6. Marketing and Communications

  • Oversee the creation of marketing materials to support fundraising efforts, including newsletters, social media campaigns, and donor collateral.
  • Serve as a public ambassador for RTV, representing the organization at events and speaking engagements.
  • Fundraising and Donor Management

    Under the management of the Chief Executive Officer, develop and implement strategies for outreach and resource development, aiming to enhance philanthropic support and engagement with stakeholders.

    Oversees production of all direct mail letters, case statements, grants, brochures LOIs, decks and sponsorship proposals to facilitate donor engagement.

    Develop and manage systems for tracking and reporting on major gift fundraising goals and successes.

    Accurately track deliverables on grants, sponsorship and major gifts for fidelity and reporting

    Ensures all internal and external communications are focused on quality, accuracy, and effectiveness.

    Daily responsibilities include identifying partnership opportunities, developing business plans, managing relationships, negotiating agreements, collaborating with teams

    Identify and implement technology solutions to support fundraising and development operations and to enhance donor engagement and stewardship

    Community Engagement

    Actively seeks and maintains positive relationships with business partners, governmental entities, donors, volunteers, the community at large, and other public agencies to increase knowledge and enhance partnership

    Supports new and ongoing community engagement events

    Represents the company at industry events and engage in strategic partnership negotiations

    Board Relations

    Participates in quarterly and special Board meetings providing updates on fundraising goal progress, challenges and make recommendations for course correction as needed

    Serves on and supports the Board Fundraising Committee

    Qualifications

  • Education : Bachelors degree in nonprofit management, business administration, communications, or a related field. Masters degree preferred.
  • Experience :
  • Minimum of 7-10 years in nonprofit fundraising, with a track record of securing six- and seven-figure gifts.

  • Demonstrated success in building and managing donor relationships.
  • Experience with grant writing and management.
  • Minimum 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Skills :
  • Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in fundraising software and donor management systems (e.g., Salesforce, DonorPerfect).
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to set and achieve long-term goals.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Previous experience DEVELOPING corporate donors and sponsors - required.
  • Ability to speak to established relationships with donor base.
  • Excellent interpersonal, listening and communication skills with sensitivity to cultural communication differences

    Established relationships with corporate and philanthropic partners

    Prior experience creating and executing strategic multiyear fundraising plans

    Proactively identifies opportunities to streamline, improve and innovate effective business processes and systems

    Ability to effectively build relationships internally and externally, particularly with decision-makers

    Attentive to detail and ability to reliably stay on top of a range of tasks and projects

    Professional and diplomatic manner and disposition in interacting with partners and senior management, co-workers, and the public; show discretion in handling confidential material

    High level of self-motivation and at ease working autonomously when necessary

    Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple competing priorities, and possessing excellent follow-up skills

    Strong written and oral communications skills in English

    Excellent computer skills, proficient in Microsoft Office and other software tools (project management software, database software, contact and contract management systems management software, CRM software) for managing a range of business processes
