Overview

Under the supervision of the Coordinator or Supervisor, provides an enhanced level of support for persons experiencing early episode psychosis utilizing the Navigate model. The NAVIGATE Program is an innovative treatment program that serves adolescents and young adults who are within two years of experiencing the onset of psychosis. The SEE specialist works clients experiencing early psychosis to identify his or her personal prefer4ences regarding work and school goals, including career interests, and then provides the necessary supports to help the person achieve those goals utilizing a client-centered approach while maintaining a youth-friendly, person-centered, recovery-focused, and strengths-based service delivery model. Duties include a variety of supportive services and direct interventions with consumers in accordance with treatment plans developed by professional personnel. Responsible for carrying out all activities of the program/sub-unit in such a manner that fulfills RESTORE’s mission, policies and procedures.

  • Collaborative: The NAVIGATE model utilizes a shared decision-making model that combines the professionals’ knowledge about psychosis with the clients’ and family members’ personal experience with psychosis. This model uses input from the first episode client and the family when planning treatment.
  • Community engagement: SEE specialist play an active role in job development within the community by building relationships with employers to learn about various industries and matching clients strengths that best fit each industry.

Responsibilities

Direct Service:

  • Serves individuals in the RESTORE program in community settings with flexibility and adaptability to the unique needs of each individual client in the program.
  • Learns and assists in implementing the RESTORE evidence based model.
  • Assist clients in breaking down long-term goals into smaller and more manageable steps.
  • Document according to compliance and agency standards the service that has been delivered and complete required/requested external and internal reports and other paperwork in a timely manner.
  • Provide continued education and reinforcement of ongoing whole health needs. This education may be delivered 1:1 or in-group settings.
  • Provide individual vocational supportive counseling to enable clients to identify vocational strengths and challenges.
  • Knowledge of the effects of mental illness and the ability to relate respectfully to clients with a wide range of abilities and diagnoses.

Administration:

  • Attend meetings as required with other RESTORE providers across the state.
  • Refer to and facilitate other treatment interventions/supports provided by the Restore team members.
  • Assist in the data collection and reporting, as directed by the Supervisor.
  • Attend weekly Interdisciplinary Team meetings, supervision, care coordination activities and case discussions for members.

Outreach:

  • Educational and Employment development activities: creating partnerships with employers and educational institutions in the community.
  • Attending various conferences in the community to increase awareness of services

Qualifications

Education: Bachelor degree required in human services or related field.

Experience: A minimum requirement of one (1) years’ experience interacting with persons with emotional impairments. Familiarity with Employment benefits and continuing education programs.

License(s)/Certification(s): Valid driver’s license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Support self-determination through connections from a mutual stance;
  • Facilitate self-exploration and discovery, etc;
  • Act as a change agent to support environments, systems and approaches to move forward.
  • Must be able to work with people from a strengths perspective, support peoples recovery process and support dignity of risk.
  • Ideal candidate is able to work with people respectfully, navigate regulations, recognize roles of different workers and work independently.
  • Additional expectations include promptness and time management, ability to interact with other co-workers and supervisor, communicate needs and respond to others’ communications.

Other: Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
