Payroll Specialist - Remote
Payroll Specialist - by performing quality checks among the team, assisting with escalations, and training aspects. This position is responsible for making independent judgement within established limits, seeking guidance from the AskHR Payroll Manager when needed, in order to provide excellent customer service by meeting designated service levels and customer satisfaction. The services provided by the AskHR team bring value to the affiliate HR departments and support their strategic and operational initiatives.

Responsibilities
Payroll Administration
- Serves as SME (Subject Matter Expert) for assigned affiliates within the AskHR-Payroll Team.
- Calculate adjustments for items such as wages, PTO balances and Alternate Rates,
- Performs W-4 and Direct Deposit Maintenance, coordinate other pay related entries into Lawson and Kronos for processing by payroll for assigned affiliates.
- Processing of payroll through the time and attendance system, working with timekeepers and managers to ensure accuracy.
- Train Timekeepers and Employees on Kronos Timekeeping software as requested for designated affiliates to ensure payroll compliance and responsibilities.
- Provide excellent customer service to UnityPoint Health employees.
- Pull reports and analyze data to provide ongoing guidance to the designated affiliates as their Master Timekeeper.
- Maintain documents outlining the setup of each Kronos environment.
- Clearing and concisely communicate errors and adjustments through Case Management
Administrative Support
- Independently serves as the first level of escalation for AskHR-Payroll team.
- Responsible for onboarding of new team members. Provides supplemental training to team on new policies, procedures and revisions in current laws. Will partner with AskHR-Service Center to execute necessary training.
- Daily tracking of AskHR-Payroll Enwisen case workload. Monitors and distributes Enwisen cases to the corresponding Payroll Specialist to stay within mandated SLA’s.
- Pull statistics daily and analyze for any trends to report to the Payroll Manager
- Monthly auditing of quality within the AskHR-Payroll team cases and phone calls. Analyze data and provide direct feedback to team members
- Will act as a back-up for AskHR-Payroll Manager, AskHR-Operations team members and/or Manager, HR Shared Services
- Responsible for special projects from development to implementation as assigned
Qualifications
Education:
- Associates Degree in Human Resources or Business or 2 years payroll experience
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- FPC or CPP Certification preferred
Experience:
- 3 years of payroll experience in the areas of administration, processing, analysis and/or customer service
Skills:
- MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Knowledge of Federal, State and local tax regulations
- Complex knowledge of payroll processing and software.
- Leadership and communication skills around efficiency, clarity, and diplomacy
- Strong customer service skills and a customer focus
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively and work with all levels of employees throughout the UnityPoint Health, its subsidiaries and affiliates.
