Assists the Imaging technologist in performing basic direct and indirect patient care according to the medical center policies and procedures ensuring quality patient care. Demonstrates proficiency in assisting technical staff with all Exams, administering contrast media, and other related patient care services.

Responsibilities
Job Performance
- Assists technical staff as assigned and performs technical support functions in a timely manner.
- Utilizes good judgment to plan effectively and solve problems.
- Is cognizant of radiation safety to self and others.
- Demonstrates competency in the storage and transfer of exams.
- Demonstrates competency in preparing patients for procedures and the administration of contrast media.
- Proficiency in performing vena puncture.
- Assists in stocking necessary room supplies such as linen, emesis basings, ect.
Patient Care
- Assists the technologist in performing basic patient care according to organizational guidelines.
- Provides patient education and insures correct consent forms are signed.
- Demonstrates competence in the administration of age appropriate care.
- Obtains and records adequate patient history and interprets physician's orders correctly.
- Correctly orders, tracks and charges exams in a timely fashion.
- Demonstrates knowledge of patient care, comfort and safety procedures
- Demonstrates knowledge of moving, lifting, transferring and ambulating patients using standard safety practices (or proper body mechanics)
Quality Improvement
- Assures that equipment is in proper working order and performs all necessary quality control testing.
- Notifies Clinical Specialist timely with equipment or safety concerns.
- Logs in technical information, completes reports and surveys, and complies with all regulatory
- Completes Occurrence Reports as needed.
- Participates in hospital wide Performance Improvement
- Maintains and coordinates patient flow to ensure efficient and expedient patient care, transporting patients to and from the department as required
Qualifications
Required:
Preferred:
- Enrolled in an accreddited Medical Imaging educational prgram with 1 year of training and experience.
- 1 year experience in General Radiography
- Area of Interest: Medical Imaging and Radiology - Non-Nursing;
- FTE/Hours per pay period: 0.01;
- Department: Radiology Administration;
- Shift: hours will vary;
