Primary Purpose:
The Payroll Specialist supports bi-weekly and weekly processing of multi-state payroll, including garnishments, benefits and taxes to approximately 6000 USA employees consistent with federal and state wage and hour laws and union agreements.
What you will do:
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of on and off cycle payroll for all employees (bi-weekly and weekly end to end payroll)
- Critically review, audit and analyze current payroll processes to recommend and implement changes leading to best-practice operations.
- Communicate actively with Lines of Business and Accounting/Finance to review cross-departmental impacts and reconcile data sharing.
- Ensure employee payroll data set-up and update to reflect requested changes to current employee base, including one-time deductions, bonuses and other one-time earning, sick and vacation time, and is in line with both union and non-union contracts.
- Manage centralized mailbox and Ticket System for payroll questions, including disseminating work to team and assisting employees and managers with questions
- Process and monitors garnishment related duties
- Perform other related duties as required or requested
What you will need:
- 3-5 years payroll experience within a multi-state payroll department required
- CPP/FPC designation preferred
- Experience with a centralized payroll department with knowledge of multiple union contracts and affiliation guidelines
- Working experience of payroll tax at the federal, state and local levels.
- Knowledge and experience working with MS Office Suite. Excel skills a must.
- Basic knowledge of bookkeeping/accounting and maintenance of related General Ledger accounts
- Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and listening skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to prioritize
- Must have proven organizational skills with strong detail orientation
- Prior system conversion experiences a significant plus
- ADP Vantage and ADP Smart Compliance experience a plus
- Strong focus on Customer Service, time management and other soft skills
