What are the responsibilities and job description for the Quality Engineer I position at Universal Audio?
Work Location: ONSITE - UA HQ (4585 Scotts Valley Drive, Scotts Valley, CA.)

QA Engineer I is responsible for the execution of test plans, test cases, and test procedures for audio software and hardware products. This position will work closely with software developers, hardware engineers, product owners, and other QA Engineers to ensure the quality of our products meet our standards of excellence. The QA Engineer I position will also be a key member in communicating the important values of product quality and the process we take to achieve it to the product development organization. This role also requires a keen eye for details and how to execute testing efficiently.
Responsibilities:
- Execute test plans, test cases, and test procedures for audio software and hardware products.
- Work closely with software developers, hardware engineers, and other QA Engineers to ensure the quality of our products.
- Identify and report defects in audio software and hardware products.
- Perform rigorous regression testing when defects are resolved.
- Analyze test results.
- Understand product testing requirements.
- Maintain test documentation through tools such as Confluence.
- Stay up to date on the latest audio software and hardware technologies.
Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of audio software and hardware technologies.
- Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent data collection and analysis skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Knowledge and experience of running tools from command line.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Knowledge of Bug Tracking systems such as JIRA.
- Knowledge of Test Case Management systems.
- Knowledge of scripts and command lines tools.
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum frameworks and regression testing.
- Knowledge of relevant audio software applications and tools.
- Knowledge of signal routing principles.
- Knowledge of music production, sound design, basic principles of sound.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Audio Engineering, Computer Science or a related field.
- 2 years of experience in software testing or quality engineering.
UA Salary Range/Hourly Rate of Pay: California Hourly Pay Range = $28.37 - $33.37
Base salary/hourly rate of pay will be based on the cost of labor for the city/state in which the new hire resides, at the time of hire.
