Job Description: Junior Estimator

Position Reports to: Estimating Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Position Summary: Develop cost definition for new and existing products in a way that best utilizes

Universal's production resources and results in profitable sales for UDFC. .

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Works with the sales/customer/design team to determine project objectives
• Responsible for all cost definition parameters and recommended sell prices based on corporate profit objectives
• Works with other members of the UDFC team to determine best overall solutions/specifications
• Support, lead, and motivate other members of the PDEV team
• Develop and maintain communications with sales team/customers to support their efforts
• Develop and sell profitable solutions
• Research and qualify new suppliers, vendors, and material sources
• Observe trends in manufacturing processes and materials and translate them into marketable solutions
• Contribute solutions to the continuous improvement of the PDEV team
• Responsible for the development of cost definition from specifications supplied by customer, PDEV team, or from samples .

Skills and Specifications Required:

• Experience and understanding of manufacturing processes and costs
• Ability to create specifications from samples through photos and sketches
• Ability to negotiate costs and lead-times with suppliers
• Must be thorough, accurate, and timely
• Must create the documentation necessary to convey cost parameters to other UDFC members
• Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills (verbal and written)
• Must be able to work effectively with other members of the UDFC team
• Ability to travel
• Must be team oriented and possess excellent people skills
• Computer skills - MS Office programs, Solidworks, Autocad
• Must be able to multi-task and prioritize daily and weekly schedules
• Must be high energy, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and solutions oriented
• Demonstrate ability to develop timely and accurate cost estimates for manufactured products in sheet metal, wire, wood, tubing, plastics, graphics

Education:

• Manufacturing Engineering degree preferred or equivalent experience

Experience:

• Experience in retail merchandising development for a manufacturing company

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $50,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
• Overtime

Ability to commute/relocate:

• Lewisville, TX: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Required)

Salary : $50,000 - $55,000
