Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Cost Accountant to join our finance team. The Cost Accountant ensures that productivity is tracked correctly, accurately forecasts operational spending and participate in month-end processing. The ideal candidate will also be a partner in the finance department and will be involved in other functional accounting areas as needed. The Cost Accountant must provide analysis and support to both Finance and Operations groups.
Responsibilities
- Fulfill various reporting requirements for Production, Sales and Inventory utilized across multiple levels of the organization.
- Guides cost analysis process by establishing and enforcing policies and procedures; providing trends and forecasts; explaining processes and techniques; recommending actions.
- Improve financial status by analyzing results; monitoring variances; identifying trends; recommending actions to management.
- Monitor and analyze inventory and expense transactions to ensure transaction integrity and appropriate financial impacts.
- Provide cost analysis for periodic expenses incurred and be proactive in identifying cost overruns and areas of potential reduction.
- Participate in material costing and analysis for annual budget presentation
- Participate in annual physical inventory and annual re-valuation activities associated with LIFO, Cap Variances and Standards Amortization
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance is required.
- Proven experience in public accounting or financial accounting is preferred.
- Proficiency in Oracle is highly desirable.
- Advanced skills in Excel and Word.
- Strong understanding of accounts receivable processes and payroll systems.
- Experience with balance sheet reconciliation and SOX compliance is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet specific hard deadlines.
