How We LEAD
UMPG seeks to recruit a highly motivated Music Publishing professional to fulfil the Compliance Coordinator role within our Global Administration team.
This role will be based in our operations center in Franklin, TN and will report jointly to the Global Copyright Senior Director, and the Vice President of Compliance and Strategic Projects. (who is based in Los Angeles).
The Global Administration team at UMPG performs various operational functions on behalf of and working in partnership with our forty-six international offices and selectsix sub publishers. This is an opportunity to collaborate with the company’s most prominent deals and songwriters, as well as our offices worldwide.
The successful applicant will be primarily responsible for worldwide copyright registrations with societies, DSP’s and CMO’s using our bespoke systems. They will oversee tracking the registrations, ensuring that any conflicts and rejections are dealt with. They will assist the rest of the Global Copyright team with systems access and audits.
Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for ensuring supporting our administration teams worldwide with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) control requirements, helping ensure our Copyright and Royalty processes are SOX compliant that our offices and processes are all Sox compliant and maintaining relevant documentation. On a quarterly basis, they will be responsible for checking that our global registration service to collection societies has been successful, and following up on any issues discovered as a result.

How You Will CREATE
- Creation of targeted CWR (registration) files and reviewing Acknowledgement files.
- Tracking registrations and providing reports for affiliates and clients.
- Deliver quarterly copyright process control reports, checks, and follow-ups.
- Assisting and training local offices around the world with their administration compliance checks controls, including the North America Copyright compliance requirements each month.
- Ensuring that documentation is current and up to date.
- Assisting with UMPG’s copyright systems user-access process as required, including internal audits.
- Respond to queries from our local offices, triaging them and delegating to other departments as appropriate.
- Other projects and responsibilities as needed in response to changing business requirements.
- Administration and Copyright leadership teams across UMPG international offices.
- European Regional Administration in London.
- Asia and Latin American Regional Administration in our LA and Miami offices.
- North American Copyright in Franklin.
- Global FTV and Digital teams in Franklin.
- Global Technology in London.
- 1 – 2 years’ experience in a copyright administration or administration compliance related role preferably at a publisher or society.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel including lookup functions and pivot tables are required.
- Strong problem-solving ability.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate, convey and explain complex information to a wide variety of audiences.
- Curiosity about business administration processes and interest in their continuous improvement
- A collaborative team member able to work with well with colleagues in other Global Administration Teams, as well as local teams around the world.
- Goal-oriented individuals who work towards team/department/company objectives and take pride in achieving targets and meeting deadlines.
- Organized, meticulous candidates who can set priorities and plan workload efficiently so that department and local office requirements are delivered consistently.
- Music lovers who are enthusiastic about serving songwriters, rightsholders and protecting their intellectual property.
- 4-year degree in Business Administration or Music Business or equivalent strongly preferred.
