What are the responsibilities and job description for the Import/Export Associate position at Universal Photonics, Inc.?
Universal Photonics, Long Island based world-leader in critical preparation materials, dedicated to advancement of surfacing and polishing technologies, is seeking an Import/Export Associate. The qualified candidate will coordinate with internal departments to quote domestic shipments and develop a listing of pack-outs and weights for on-going reference.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Confirm domestic truck & tanker shipments in SAP
- Create booking and documentation, obtain approval, match documentation to the pallets, and manage the pick-up board
- Assist in arranging pickups from domestic vendors protect from freeze, tanker endorsed drivers, and expedited freight
- Coordinate advance warehouse drop off and convention site pick up for UPI domestic Trade Shows
- Attach International Order Control Sheet and Pallet Control Sheet to pick tickets and put out to pack
- Perform pre-shipment audit of export documentation to check for errors
- Physical review of packed export shipments and documents,
- Run SAP Report to monitor upcoming shipments
- Request and process forms escalating discrepancies as needed.
- Track and trace domestic and international delays or distressed packages & shipments
- Review, dispute, resolve and approve all compliance and logistics bills
- Calculate and track landed costs per piece to assist organization in pricing determinations
- File and monitor domestic and international freight claims through final material disposition communicating with couriers/freight broker/forwarder, vendor/customer, and internal departments
- Handle all aspects of Imports
- Work with shipper and broker to file ISF (Importer Security Filing) on ocean imports, as needed
- Prepare TSCA (Toxic Substance Control Act) Forms and keep current with import broker SOP
- Assist with any foreign-to-foreign logistics, documentation, or compliance needs
- Assist in writing, reviewing, and maintain ISO procedures and supporting documentation
- Assist in testing system updates
- Department back-up
Requirements
- Three years or more working on import/export/logistics documentation is required
- Excellent communication and analytical ability
- Detail oriented
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Strong knowledge of customs regulations, Incoterms, HTS codes, and trade compliance
- Dangerous Goods training
- College degree
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.91 - $33.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
