A Structural Project Engineer is responsible for the design, analysis, and management of structural engineering projects, ensuring that structures are safe, stable, and meet project specifications. They oversee all phases of structural projects, collaborating with architects, contractors, and other engineers to deliver designs that meet both technical and regulatory requirements. Structural Project Engineers play a key role in ensuring project timelines, budgets, and safety standards are met.
Essential Duties / Responsibilities include some or all of the following :
- Design and analyze structural components and systems, including foundations, beams, columns, and load-bearing structures.
- Develop project specifications, structural models, and construction documents in compliance with building codes and safety regulations.
- Conduct site visits, inspections, and assessments to ensure adherence to engineering plans and quality standards.
- Perform calculations, risk assessments, and simulations to verify structural integrity and load-bearing capacities.
- Coordinate with architects, contractors, and cross-functional teams to align project requirements, timelines, and deliverables.
- Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources, ensuring on-time, on-budget delivery.
- Troubleshoot structural issues during construction and provide technical support to resolve challenges. Travel to any job site as needed. This could include the need to drive a vehicle, fly in a commercial airplane, ride a train, taxi, etc. This position requires the ability to travel nationally or internationally for extended periods of time (weeks, months or years).
- Communicate clearly and effectively with all parties involved in the project, both verbally and in writing.
- Coordinate with the project management team, site superintendents, and other internal departments.
- Responsible for multiple process / systems in large projects
- Must understand project scheduling.
