Incoming Materials Inspector
Role and Responsibilities:
To perform accurate and timely sampling of components (raw materials) to specifications. Responsible for ensuring Good Documentation Practices are utilized throughout all quality records that are reviewed, completed, inspected and audited.
Universal Plastics specializes in plastic injection molding, including gas assist and structural foam, for customers mostly in the medical, laboratory and diagnostic markets. We supply high quality, large plastic parts with complex designs and high cosmetic requirements. We have presses ranging from 85T -1,500T. This position is responsible for ensuring presses are running efficiently to meet production demands.

Incoming Materials Inspector
Role and Responsibilities:
To perform accurate and timely sampling of components (raw materials) to specifications. Responsible for ensuring Good Documentation Practices are utilized throughout all quality records that are reviewed, completed, inspected and audited.
- Inspect incoming materials for defects or deviations from product specifications (this includes raw materials, i.e., resin, coded items, and outsourced product and processes)
- Test melt flow on resins utilizing melt flow indexer and record results in database
- Test moisture in resin prior to parts running and record results in database
- Review certifications for conformance
- Issues NRs as necessary
- Document inspection results by completing reports and inputting data into database
- Communicate inspection status and deliveries with other departments
- Maintain work area in neat and organized fashion
- Other tasks as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Quality inspection experience (1-4 years) – strongly preferred
- High attention to detail and consistency
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Experience with basic measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers and other common inspection tools
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints and specifications
- Experience with Microsoft Office to assist with work requirements
