US Advisors is seeking a part-time experienced Inspections and Detention Standards Subject Matter Expert (SME) with background in conducting inspections to join our team supporting the Department of Homeland Security! You will be responsible for the management and delivery of compliance projects for our client across various workstreams : planning, organizing, reporting status, deliverables, and schedules to the Government.

Responsibilities :

  • Inspect DHS family and adult residential centers and short and long-stay juvenile facilities to assure compliance with Governmental residential / detention standards of care.
  • After full completion of inspection, the candidate shall prepare an inspection report in accordance with the client's template / checklist.
  • Provide quality assurance and compliance reviews of other client programs to include transportation operations.
  • Provide suggestions and expertise in areas such as environmental health and safety protocols, methods, and techniques for client locations spread across the United States.
  • Develop, review, and update inspection tools for programs as requested by the client.
  • Provide inspection reports within 30 calendar days of completing each inspection.
  • Report serious compliance issues or events relating to life or safety issues to the client within 1 hour of observation.
  • Provide recommendations on improving client safety protocols and the inspection process, including changes to the standards that the client manages for their facilities and operations.
  • Provide analytical support of client safety operations and trends, including trend analysis as necessary.
  • Prepare briefings (PowerPoint format) of compliance reviews and provide monthly and annual compliance reports.
  • Provide technical training support to workplace leads at client sites.
  • Work with subject matter experts in the continued development of resource material for client protocols.
  • Conduct remote audits of facilities with fewer than 10 detainees.
  • Develops high-visibility, multifaceted documents using various guidelines and other program identified resources to meet identified program objectives.

Required Qualifications :

  • Current DHS Public Trust clearance, or the ability to obtain a Federal clearance through employer sponsorship.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field of study required, Master's degree preferred.
  • At least ten (10) or more years of relevant experience in conducting inspections and compliance reviews against Federal, state, and local standards. These 10 years of direct experience may be from working in a state prison, local jail, and / or a federal prison, or similar experience conducting inspections.
  • Experience defining all client project activities and milestones required to meet objectives and deliverables, properly sequencing tasks and estimating effort with program team members doing the work, determining the critical path, and leveling the project schedule.
  • Experience monitoring project execution to identify obstacles and deviations from plan and takes corrective action as needed.
  • Experience conducting continuous risk assessment and management including developing measures to reduce risk in project execution.
  • Experience developing metrics and reports for tracking project execution.
