General Operations Manager – Car Hauling Company
Location: Glen Gardner, NJ
Work Schedule: On-site, 8 AM to 6 PM, Monday – Saturday
Salary: 1099 contract, $65,000 - $90,000 annually depends on experience.
We’re looking for a hands-on, dynamic General Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day operations of our Car Hauling company. This role requires someone who thrives on being involved in every aspect of the business, working alongside employees, interacting with drivers, and ensuring all departments operate smoothly and efficiently.
About the Role
You’ll be responsible for managing Dispatch, Finance, Fleet, Safety, and our Repair Shop departments while fostering collaboration between our on-site team and remote office staff. This is not just a desk job, this is a role for someone who enjoys solving problems in real-time and working directly with people to get things done.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Overseeing Daily Operations: Manage and optimize all departments, ensuring they operate in sync and meet company goals.
- Driver & Employee Interaction: Actively engage with drivers, mechanics, and employees to resolve issues, give direction, and boost morale.
- Fleet Management: Monitor vehicle performance, maintenance schedules, and repair activities to keep our fleet running smoothly.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure adherence to DOT regulations, safety protocols, and company policies.
- Budget & Cost Control: Manage budgets, monitor expenses, and implement cost-saving measures.
- Problem-Solving: Address challenges as they arise and find quick, effective solutions to keep operations running.
- Communication: Act as the key point of contact between on-site teams, remote staff, and leadership.
Who You Are
- Experienced in Car Hauling or Logistics: You have 5 years of experience in the transportation or car hauling industry and understand its unique challenges.
- Hands-On Leader: You’re not afraid to roll up your sleeves, interact with employees, and take a proactive approach to problem-solving.
- Tech-Savvy: You’re comfortable using Transportation Management Systems (TMS), fleet management software, and other tech tools to enhance efficiency.
- Strong Communicator: You know how to motivate teams, manage conflicts, and communicate effectively with employees, drivers, and management.
- Detail-Oriented & Organized: You excel at multitasking and ensuring that no detail gets overlooked.
- Bilingual (Preferred): Must be fluent in English, plus either Russian or Spanish, or Georgian to communicate effectively with diverse teams.
This position starts as a 1099 contract for the first 6 months, renewable for another 6 months based on performance. After one year, the role will transition to a W2 position with full benefits if performance expectations are met.
