The Dispatch Manager is responsible for overseeing and leading the dispatch operations within the company. This role involves managing a team of dispatchers, ensuring shipments are scheduled and delivered on time, and optimizing routes for efficiency. The Dispatch Manager will be responsible for coordinating with drivers, handling customer inquiries, and resolving any operational issues. The role also includes monitoring performance metrics, maintaining compliance with safety and transportation regulations, and continuously improving dispatch processes to enhance efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise the dispatch team to ensure the efficient scheduling and coordination of shipments.
  • Oversee daily dispatch operations, ensuring that shipments are routed effectively and deliveries are made on time.
  • Manage and optimize dispatching processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and meet customer satisfaction targets.
  • Coordinate with drivers, ensuring that they receive clear, timely instructions, and addressing any issues they may encounter on their routes.
  • Monitor vehicle locations using GPS systems and tracking tools, providing real-time updates and addressing any delays or route changes.
  • Develop and implement performance metrics for the dispatch team to track and improve operational efficiency.
  • Provide guidance and training to dispatch staff, ensuring they understand company procedures, safety regulations, and customer service standards.
  • Collaborate with the operations and logistics teams to streamline processes, improve service delivery, and resolve operational issues.
  • Handle customer inquiries and concerns, ensuring that all delivery requirements are met and that customers are satisfied with the service provided.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant transportation laws, regulations, and industry standards (e.g., DOT).
  • Prepare and analyze reports on dispatch operations, tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Resolve escalated issues, including managing conflict with drivers, customers, or other departments, to maintain smooth operations.
  • Develop and maintain schedules for dispatchers, ensuring adequate coverage and effective handling of shifts.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in dispatching, logistics, or transportation management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and guide a team of dispatchers and drivers.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills in high-pressure situations.
  • In-depth knowledge of transportation laws, regulations, and DOT compliance standards.
  • Familiarity with dispatching software, GPS tracking systems, and fleet management tools.
  • Exceptional communication skills to interact effectively with team members, drivers, customers, and other departments.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with the capability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
  • Customer-service oriented, with a focus on maintaining positive relationships and resolving issues promptly.
  • Ability to analyze data and reports, making data-driven decisions to improve dispatch operations.
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
