Description

The primary role of the Account Manager is to obtain new, and strengthen existing, customer relationships by providing tailored, timely and professional refuse and recycling-related customer service to new and existing accounts.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Increase revenue by managing sales prospects and developing new accounts by establishing business relationships built on trust and excellent customer service.
  • Retain major accounts by fielding customer inquiries and requests while providing superior, needs-based service and solutions.
  • Meet sales and retention goals as set by management.
  • Provide oversight, training and mentorship to junior account manager associates.
  • Use related computer systems to track sales prospects, establish new service, compile detailed notes and develop sales-related reporting.
  • Work in conjunction with management, operations, customer service, dispatch and sustainability departments to ensure seamless customer interactions.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

    Knowledge of :

  • Superior customer service, sustainability and sales-related techniques and etiquette.
  • Refuse, recycling and composting-related services and tools.
  • Modern office practices and procedures including the use of standard computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Search Engines and Google Maps.
  • Geography of the City of Los Angeles and surrounding areas.
  • Ability to :

  • Actively listen to, and empathize with, customer concerns.
  • Employ de-escalation and conflict-resolution methodologies.
  • Mentor and maintain a positive attitude with customers and coworkers.
  • Proactively establish trust and credibility with customers and coworkers by maintaining accountability.
  • Contribute to the team dynamic by promoting inclusion, support and collaboration amongst coworkers.
  • Take initiative, self-manage time and productivity through multitasking.
  • Effectively and concisely communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Learn the products and services offered by Universal Waste Systems, Inc.
  • Provide guidance and expert advice on waste-related information.
  • Education, Training & Experience

  • Five years of related experience in waste, recycling or sustainability required.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
