Albizu University is seeking a dedicated and accomplished Graduate Faculty member to join our team. Graduate faculty members commit 30 hours per week to instructional duties, supervising student research, providing mentorship, engaging in scholarly research and professional development, and contributing to institutional service. They play a vital role in fostering advanced academic learning, achieving departmental objectives, and upholding the university’s commitment to excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Teach graduate courses (3 per semester; up to 9 credits) in accordance with departmental standards, fostering advanced critical thinking and professional skills.
- Prepare course syllabi and materials, including lectures, exams, and assignments, ensuring alignment with academic objectives.
- Submit student grades to the Registrar’s Office by the established deadlines.
- Supervise graduate student research projects, including theses, dissertations, and grant-funded initiatives.
- Participate in Comprehensive Doctoral Examinations and the student admission process.
- Provide academic advisement and mentorship to students, including guiding students needing remediation and monitoring their progress.
- Hold regular office hours to support students in their academic and career development.
- Conduct mid-term and final evaluations for students each term, providing timely and constructive feedback.
- Assess and document student learning outcomes to support institutional effectiveness and accreditation standards.
- Actively participate in institutional meetings, faculty meetings, and committees, contributing to program and university initiatives.
- Participate in the accreditation process, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and contributing to institutional excellence.
- Develop, update, and review curriculum to maintain academic rigor and address departmental needs.
- Submit academic reports and forms accurately and promptly, as required.
- Participate in the Annual Graduation Ceremony and other institutional events.
- Engage in research, professional development, and course preparation to stay current in the field, enhance course quality, and apply for grants.
- Encouraged to conduct research, publish in professional journals, and maintain professional memberships in relevant organizations.
- Maintain professional licensure in good standing and participate in continuing education activities.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to promote student success, retention, and program growth.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance, attendance, and communications in compliance with institutional requirements.
- Report directly to the Program Director and fulfill other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- A Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA-accredited program.
- Licensure or eligibility for licensure in the State of Florida is required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) for course preparation, record-keeping, and communication.
- Ability to foster an inclusive, respectful, and engaging learning environment.
- Strong organizational, communication, and mentoring skills.
- Knowledge of instructional technology and advanced research methodologies to support student projects and course outcomes.
