Albizu University is seeking qualified applicants for the role of Success Coach. This position serves as a dedicated support resource for undergraduate and/or graduate students, guiding them from initial inquiry through graduation. Acting as a single point of contact, the Success Coach provides personalized academic advising, enrollment assistance, and student success support to enhance the overall student experience. Managing a caseload of approximately 300–400 students, along with prospective students based on their program of interest, the Success Coach fosters meaningful relationships that contribute to student retention, persistence, and degree completion.
Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary contact for prospective students, guiding them from inquiry to application to enrollment to completion.
- Provide information on Albizu’s programs, admission requirements, financial aid, and career pathways.
- Assist students with application completion, course planning and registration, and onboarding.
- Collaborate in organizing and participating in New Student Orientation and Registration events to address student needs, registration, and ensure a smooth transition into the university.
- Develop individualized academic plans, ensuring students stay on track for graduation.
- Monitor student progress, proactively reaching out to address academic or personal challenges.
- Support students with registration, course selection, and degree requirements.
- Serve as a liaison between students and faculty, helping resolve academic concerns.
- Utilize technology, including Student Information Systems (SIS), retention tools, and Early Alert platforms, to provide efficient and timely interventions and support for students in their caseload.
- Identify at-risk students and provide proactive interventions to improve persistence and success.
- Conduct regular and as-needed one-on-one check-ins and coaching sessions with assigned students.
- Collaborate with career services, tutoring, and mental health support to address student needs.
- Promote student engagement through workshops, events, and campus activities.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree required (preferred fields: Education, Counseling, Psychology, or a related area).
- 1–3 years of experience in student services, academic advising, or enrollment.
- Strong communication, coaching, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage a high caseload while providing individualized student support.
- Knowledge of student retention strategies in higher education.
- Experience with student information systems (SIS), retention software, and early alert platforms preferred.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
- Ability to work in an office setting, including extended periods of sitting, standing, and computer use.
- Ability to move around campus to attend meetings, events, and student engagement activities.
- Ability to lift and carry materials, such as files, documents, or event supplies, up to 25 lbs.
- Strong communication skills for in-person, phone, and virtual interactions.
- Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for student events or peak enrollment periods.
- Support enrollment and student outreach efforts by promoting academic programs at career fairs, college and university fairs, high school visits, and other recruitment-related events, both on-site and at local high schools.
