What are the responsibilities and job description for the High School Music Teacher position at University Academy Charter High School?
Position begins immediately for remainder of 24-25 school year, with eligibility for renewal.
Teach 5-6 46-minute periods of Music Appreciation, Instrumental Music, Music Production, and Choir to classes of no more than 20 9-12 grade students. Design and implement engaging, interactive lessons that expose students to a wide range of music genres, knowledge, and skills. Create positive and student-centered learning environment which facilitates the completion of goals and objectives particular to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.
Classes are capped at 20 students per class to enable teachers to give students individual attention, effectively differentiate instruction, and use data to track student progress. Students have 1-1 Chromebooks and teachers are expected to regularly incorporate technology into instruction. Limited tuition remission available for masters-level graduate courses at New Jersey City University.
Candidates must hold a valid NJ Teacher of Music certification to be considered. Out-of-state candidates must have already initiated the reciprocity process with the NJDOE and submit verification of their application status before an interview will be scheduled.
