The Office of Human Resources at the University at Albany seeks a Human Resources Associate to serve as an integral member of a diverse service excellence Human Resources team facilitating the administration of classified staffing at the University at Albany. This full-time management confidential position reports to the Assistant Director of Classified Service.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Classified Employment and SUNY HR
- Classified Service administration - As assigned, manage activities related to the classified service including the canvassing and posting of positions, ensuring timely and accurate communication of employment and employment status changes, process and track line item holds and releases. Utilize NYSTEP, Payserv, ELMS, and other required systems in order to execute these responsibilities.
- Collaborate with departments across the University to support the recruitment process within Civil Service Law, rules and regulations and applicable bargaining agreements.
- Support the Facilities Management team with strategies to enrich candidate pools and interest in facilities careers at UAlbany.
- Serve as the backup to other associates responsible for the other aspects of SUNY HR processing.
- Support and participate in various committees focused on making UAlbany an employer of choice supporting welcoming, diverse, equitable, and supportive experiences for all employees.
- Provide support as needed to HR staff to continually transition HR from paper-based processes to technology-based platforms.
Job Requirements:
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from a college or university accredited by the U.S. Department of Education or an internationally recognized accrediting organization
- Minimum of one year experience in a related or transferable field
- Ability to work at a high level of attention to detail, while maintaining accuracy
- Excellent independent judgment including sensitivity to personal information and ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to develop collegial working relationships with individuals at all organizational levels
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Superior analytical and decision-making skills and problem-solving techniques
- Ability to be flexible, self-motivated, and quality and customer service oriented
- Ability to harness software and technology to improve efficiencies
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Civil Service employment rules preferred
- Experience in human resources
- Experience working with an automated Human Resource Information System (HRIS)
- Professional experience utilizing IT systems for processing transactions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook)
