POSITION SUMMARY
Reporting to the Corporation Controller, the Accounting Manager manages the day-to-day accounting operations of the Corporation, supervises staff that perform accounting transactions and reconciliations, manages special projects, provides operational support to the Corporation team, and serves as one of the Corporation's subject matter experts on auxiliary accounting and financial reporting matters.
Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include. but are not limited to. the following :
- Direct, manage, train, and supervise the Corporation staff for accounts payable, accounts receivable, purchasing, purchasing cards, travel, general ledger, asset management, endowment support, banking reconciliation, and related financial operations.
- Assure the proper recording and documentation of financial transactions, including allowability, deposits, A / P batches, periodic accruals, and general ledger activity.
- Identify actual or potential problems and recommend corrective or preventive action. Provide consultative services to campus administrators in resolving accounting problems.
- Interpret and implement new and existing federal and state regulations and university requirements. Compute and estimate the effects of proposed changes on operating programs or accounting operations and recommend improvements in accounting systems and procedures.
- Revise existing procedures, develop new process improvements, and implement them to create efficiencies. Ensure procedures and training are being implemented and communicated.
- Respond to inquiries and requests from campus departments and auxiliaries and provide analytical support when needed. Instruct department managers and other system users on navigating the accounting software.
- Examine documents for conformance to established policies and procedures, GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), and GASB (Government Accounting Standards Board).
- Coordinate monthly, quarterly, and year-end close and recording of accruals / deferrals and review documents for completeness, accuracy, and proper accounting period.
- Oversee the financial and related compliance requirements, including, but not limited to, 1099s, 1042s, sales and use tax, CA non-resident withholding, and foreign withholding.

The annual salary range for this position is $100,000 - $115,000. Classification : Grade 8, Management. This is an exempt position and as such is not eligible for the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.
