Description

JOB SUMMARY

 

Delivers on University Credit Union’s core purpose of giving the University Community a financial advantage by building and nurturing relationships and programs within designated authority. Responsible for all loan servicing of 1st mortgages, HELOC’s and Solar loans. Answering questions from borrowers and inquires regarding loan documents, balance inquires, payment breakdown, VOM’s and other matters pertaining to mortgage loans. Prepare and process loan payoffs, lien releases and subordination requests. Complete HMDA reporting. May also provide operational support to the department.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provides support to branch personnel in response to inquiries regarding Certificates, IRA, Deceased, Trusts and other Fiduciary accounts

 

a. Acts as the resident expert in all areas of the designated accounts and provides internal support to the branches

 

b. Processes transactions for all mail requests and follows up on all pending items and DNE notifications.

 

c. Tracks and records status using contact management system to enable the branches to effectively communicate with the members about the status of their request.

 

2. Assumes responsibility for the effective and professional performance and process of member service functions.

 

a. Maintains working knowledge of deposit products, services, and regulations. Opens and closes accounts to include (but not limited to): shares, checking, money market, IRA, CD, and business accounts via mail or electronic request.

 

b. Maintains working knowledge of regulatory compliance related to member services and financial services area to include (but not limited to): BSA reporting requirements, OFAC, USA Patriot ACT, Red Flags, Regulation CC, Regulation D, Regulation E, Truth in Savings, Truth in Lending, Privacy, etc.

 

c. Answers questions and solves problems for internal members by listening to problems, collecting data, securing answers and reporting results to the inquiring party. Refers any problem or concern to the appropriate individual if unable to resolve.

 

d. Maintains working knowledge of special share accounts to include (but not limited to): UTMA (Minor Account), Coogan Trust (Youth Actor Account), Trust Accounts (Living, Revocable, etc.), Conservator, Representative Payee, DBAs, and organizational accounts.

 

e. Performs file maintenance and account changes as needed on deposit and lending products. Performs related administrative duties as needed.

 

f. Validates through audits that the proper process and procedures for advanced accounts are being utilized. Makes recommendations for changes/improvements as appropriate.

 

g. Ensures that work area is clean, secure, and well maintained. Maintains confidentiality at all times.

 

3. Assumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective, professional business relations with internal and external members.

 

a. Resolves member requests and questions promptly, courteously, and professionally.

 

b. Keeps team members informed of changes in Credit Union services and policies. Actively supports UCU core values, mission and vision statements, and demonstrates commitment to member service and UCU organizational success.

 

c. Maintains and projects the Credit Union's professional reputation.

 

4. Assumes responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications


KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Associate’s degree or higher preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS: CMSS, CMSP, or RCMS

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE : Good understanding of member services, real estate servicing and financial services products. Bank or Credit Union operations knowledge of back-office processes.

 

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 3 years of similar or related experience in a financial institution. Experience dealing with advanced account functions including HMDA reporting, MERS, reconveyances, foreclosure process, mortgage servicing regulations.

 

SKILLS/ABILITIES: Excellent communication and public relations skills.

Professional appearance and attitude.

Well organized.

Demonstrated consultative and service skills.

Good math skills and attention to detail.

Ability to operate related computer applications and other business equipment including 10-key and telephone.

Basic to Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, & Excel).

Physical Requirements

If based remotely, may be required to travel up to 20% of the time to the UCU HQ in Los Angeles, so must be able to travel and move within buildings to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs. Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency. Must be able to operate routine office equipment including a computer, telephone, copier, and calculator. Must be able to routinely perform work on a computer for extended periods daily. Must be able to work extended hours whenever required or requested by management. Must be capable of regular reliable, and timely attendance that aligns with the pacific time zone.

 

Working Conditions

If working onsite, must be able to routinely perform work indoors in climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise. If working remotely from a home office, must be able to work in a separate, quiet area, for extended periods on a computer.

Must be able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team. Must be able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions. Must be able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence. Must be capable of dealing calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public. Must be able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace. Must be able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities. Must be capable of exercising the highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
