What are the responsibilities and job description for the Surgical Scheduler/Clinical Secretary position at University Gynecologists & Obstetricians Inc?
The Surgical Scheduler/Clinical Secretary will manage the surgical schedules of several physicians, assist with administrative activities including prior authorization for surgeries and coordinating the practice utilization of surgical block time.
Responsibilities:
- Manage the booking of surgeries for physicians in our divisions of general obstetrics and gynecology, urogynecology, family planning, and reproductive endocrinology and infertility
- Establish, organize, and maintain patient medical records and file medical records appropriately
- Navigate electronic medical records
- Coordinate with staff at the hospitals and surgical centers where surgeries occur
- Understand the rules for management of block time
- Coordinate with physicians and facilities to schedule OBGYN surgical procedures
- Obtain insurance authorizations, verify benefits, and ensure all necessary financial documentation is complete
- Assist with completion of disability, paid family leave, and other patient documentation
- Coordinate referrals for care
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred)
- 13 years experience in surgical scheduling, clinical support, or administrative roles in an OBGYN or women’s health setting
- Strong organizational and communication skills with a keen eye for detail
