Under general supervision and in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), performs a variety of professional accounting duties including preparing journal entries and analyses in support of the close of financial statements on a monthly basis. Prepares analysis of budget versus actual performance and conducts special analyses and projects as assigned. Prepares analysis of balance sheet accounts to ascertain and confirm the balances.

What you will do

Reports
a. Prepares or assists with required reports including, but not limited to:
b. Sales, property, and income tax returns for multiple states.
c. Expense reports for employees.
d. Weekly inventory reports for Inventory Management.
e. Monthly Standard Reporting Package -
General Ledger
a. Records details of financial transactions in appropriate journals and subsidiary ledgers in an accurate and timely manner.
b. Reconciles balance sheet accounts and verifies balances to supporting data to ensure proper valuation and classification of assets, liabilities, and net assets.
c. Prepares assigned monthly journal entries to ensure account activity is fairly recorded in accordance with GAAP.
d. Assists in the preparation of financial statements and prepares analysis of variances to budget and prior periods to confirm the accuracy of the financial statements and understand the financial conditions of the organization.
e. Confirms proper interface of subsystems to general ledger.
f. Assists in summarizing analysis in written communications for presentation to senior management. -
Treasury
a. Reviews and records all daily cash transactions and revenue, booking banking fees
b. Prepares wire transfer requests
c. Acts as the liaison between UHA and the Bank for cash-related issues. -
Communication & Collaboration
a. Assists in the development of policies and procedures in order to improve the efficiency and timeliness of monthly closing cycles and reporting criteria as required.
b. Serves as a resource to department managers by researching and resolving account-related problems in a timely, accurate, and courteous manner. -
All other duties as assigned including department-specific functions and responsibilities (1, 2):
a. Performs other duties as assigned and participates in organization projects as assigned.
b. Adheres to safety, P4P’s (if applicable), HIPAA and compliance policies.
Education Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field
Experience Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in general ledger work in a computerized department
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Basic understanding of transactions and details from a variety of subsystems including patient accounting systems, fixed asset systems, accounts payable systems, and payroll systems.
- Excellent computer (Excel, Lotus 1-2-3, and Word) skills
- Exceptional problem solving abilities and good organizational skills.
- Strong verbal/written communication and listening skills; including excellent interpersonal skills and telephone communication.
- Ability to effectively organize and prioritize tasks in order to complete assignments within the time allotted and maintain standard workflow.
- Ability to work with all levels of staff in a flexible, cooperative manner.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $36.31 - $47.19 per hour
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
