Overview
The primary purpose of the Secretary II position is to perform medical secretarial and clerical duties in accordance with policies and procedures of the Anatomic Pathology Department.
Responsibilities
Some job duties include but are not limited to:
- Transcribing from Dragon Speech Recognition
- Review and sort incoming correspondence
- Coordinates records maintenance of the unit
- Maintains a record of all newly diagnosed cases
- Performs other related duties as assigned
Qualifications
Graduation from an accredited program in secretarial studies plus two (2) years of full-time secretarial experience required preferably in a histology or cytology laboratory. An additional year of experience is required in lieu of the secretarial program. College credits may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for secretarial experience. Knowledge of medical terminology required. Must have basic computer skills, including strong word processing skills to be able to type anatomic pathology reports from handwritten drafts. Must be able to transcribe pathology dictation.
