A Brief OverviewAs a key member of the healthcare team, you will facilitate the movement of patients to appropriate levels of care as needed. With authority to open transitional beds or units, you will maximize patient throughput and alleviate excess capacity. This role involves patient access, transfer center coordination, and system-wide collaboration.
What You Will Do- You will manage patient flow and clinical operations by procuring necessary resources for patient care. Working closely with charge nurses, you will ensure each area is staffed appropriately.
- In the absence of administration, you will assume leadership roles during after-hours, weekends, and holidays. Additionally, you will provide leadership for nursing staff in the absence of Clinical Managers, Directors, and VP.
- You are responsible for leading daily safety huddles and partnering with the Emergency Department during overcrowding guidelines. Specifically, when in stages yellow, orange, and red.
- Nursing Supervisor must make critical decisions regarding staffing, including movement of RNs, Sitters, CTAs, etc., as necessary.
- During emergency room surges, you will assess needs from the ED and work in the department to assist with flow, etc.
- You are responsible for ensuring adequate staffing and managing sitter and restraint utilization.
- Ensuring provision of care, restraint utilization, safety, and regulatory standards is also part of your responsibility.
- You are responsible for administering rapid responses and ensuring all protocols are followed to address urgent situations. You will also respond to BAT, Traumas in the ED, and all codes (blue, violent) as necessary.
- Providing administrative, operational, and clinical support to patient care areas and administration is another essential duty.
- You will improve systems that support patient care.
- Responsible for maintaining the environment of care and attending to the needs of clinical staff through visibility/presence in clinical areas, coaching, and assisting in completion of patient care activities.
- You will address staff concerns, lead through change, and help create a conducive and positive work environment.
- Serving as the lead for disaster management in the absence of leadership management is an additional responsibility.
- You will perform other duties as assigned.
