About the Opportunity
As a Mechanical Operations Specialist at University Mechanical Contractors, Inc (UMC), you will play a critical role in overseeing the construction of energy-focused design-build construction projects. This includes organizing and supervising construction procedures on projects related to energy conservation and generation, Clean Tech, and district energy.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with engineers, architects, and other professionals to determine the construction-based requirements and overall budget of the project.
- Work with preconstruction and energy engineering to determine design-build conceptual scopes for maximum energy conservation and utilization.
- Develop successful energy-based projects in collaboration with UMC Business Development personnel.
- Estimate, evaluate, and negotiate change orders with clients and subcontractors, GC services, mechanical, piping, and plumbing.
- Acquire, prepare, and critically evaluate submittals for subcontracted scopes of work and for all UMC self-performed scopes.
Requirements
- Construction Management or Engineering degree.
- Broad understanding of HVAC & controls systems.
- A minimum of five years' experience as a general contractor (manager/estimator/MEP) with a focus on commercial, industrial, and Federal projects.
- Association of Energy Engineers (AEE) Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification is desirable.
- Background within MEP, energy, and/or control industry.
- LEED certification is desirable.
- OSHA 30 certification is desirable.
