Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Statistical Genomics
PI Overview:
Dr. Jinzhuang Dou will join the Department of Biomedical Informatics and Data Science (DBIDS) at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in June 2025. He is looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to join his lab, which focuses on statistical genomics. Dr. Dou has made significant contributions to several prestigious international research initiatives, including Singapore 10,000 Genomes Project (SG10K); Human Cell Atlas (HCA); Human Tumor Atlas Network (HTAN); and Cancer Moonshot Initiative at MD Anderson Cancer Center etc. His research has been published as first/co-first author in top-tier journals, including Nature Biotechnology, Cell, Science Advances, Genome Biology, and Briefings in Bioinformatics, among others. Eligibility Requirements:
Applicants with a PhD in Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Human Genetics, Computer Science, or a related field are encouraged to apply.
1. Strong Background in Human Genetics. Demonstrated academic or research experience in human genetics, biostatistics, and related disciplines. Expertise in processing UK Biobank/TOPMed genomics data and analyzing bulk and single-cell genomic data is highly desirable.
2. Computational and Technical Skills. Proficient in R, Python, and Shell scripting. Experienced with Linux servers, including batch job submissions and working in high-performance computing (HPC) environments.
3. Communication and Collaboration. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proven ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary research environment.
