Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs basic theoretical and experimental scientific and technological investigation including PCR, Real-Time PCR, molecular clone, transfection, SDS-PAGE, Westernblotting, Southern-blotting, etc.
- Tissue culture techniques (primary cell and transformed cell lines), preparation and titration of recombinant adenoviral, lentiviral and adeno-associated viral (AAV) vectors.
- Performs a variety of tests requiring a high degree of proficiency.
- Conduct additional experiments in primary airway cell culture, cell line culture and maintenance, Histochemical /Immunofluorescence technique; tissue collection, embedding, cryosection, and data analysis.
- Handling animals (mouse and rabbit), evaluation of toxicity of veterinary medicine and viral infection on animal models.
- Basic histology procedures include paraffin and frozen section processing, tissue embedding, sectioning, HE staining, immuohistochemical and immunofluroscent staining, whole-mount embryo histochemical staining (X-gal).
- Mouse breeding and mouse embryo dissection (older than embryonic day 10). RNA technology, RNA isolation from tissues and cells, Northern blotting, RNA in situhybridization (whole mount embryos and sections), qRT-PCR.
- Provides advanced and specialized expertise, typically developed through a combination of job related training and considerable work experience.
- Supervisors and instruct experiments conducted by graduate and undergraduate students.
- Evaluates study results using statistical and multivariate analysis, may involve assistance in publishing findings.
- Provides technical support by performing complex research related tasks.
- Performs a variety of the complex tasks and proposes improvements to processes.
- Acts as a subject matter expert on research methods and equipment functions.
- Provide technical training to new personnel
- Perform other duties as assigned
