Position Summary:
As a Researcher Associate, this intermediate-level position will require you to independently conduct more complex studies and analyses, contributing to the advancement of research projects. With greater autonomy, you will design experiments, interpret data, and collaborate with senior researchers to develop and refine research protocols. Your role may also include mentoring junior staff and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. Depending on the research focus, this position may involve research participant contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.
This role combines hands-on research support with administrative and as assisting with managerial responsibilities to ensure the lab runs efficiently and meets compliance standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Uses expertise and ingenuity in the application of a wide variety of specialized and advanced techniques.
- Assist in planning and implementing experiments, ensuring alignment with lab goals.
- Provide technical expertise and training to new staff and students.
- May coordinate and conduct training sessions on lab safety, protocols, and common laboratory techniques for staff and students.
- Assimilates the details and significance of various scientific analyses and procedures.
- Develop and maintain protocols (IACUC, IRB, rDNA, RAM) to ensure compliance with institutional and regulatory standards.
- Assist with the facilitation of activities with regulatory offices (IACUC, IRB, EHS) for inspections and compliance reviews.
- Ensure proper documentation and compliance with DEA-controlled substances, including purchase, disposal, and record-keeping.
- Applies scientific principles to the solution of critical issues; evaluating approaches to unforeseen or novel problems.
- Assist with equipment and supply evaluation, procurement, and maintenance.
- Provide technical expertise and support for research projects, ensuring efficient and effective use of lab resources.
- May Manage undergraduate workforce for tasks such as glassware cleaning and preparation of common buffer stocks.
- Assist with maintaining inventory of laboratory supplies and ensure timely reordering.
- Work with departmental administration to track and audit laboratory expenses
- May involve research participant contact, research animal contact, and/or specimens.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Salary Range: $19.80 - $26.77
Bachelor's degree in a related field OR Associate's degree in a related field and two (2) years of related experience OR High School diploma or GED and four (4) years of related experience required. Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement.
