As a Research Technician, this entry-level position will play a pivotal role in supporting team operations within a dynamic research environment. Under the guidance of Dr. Hjelmeland and experienced researchers in the laboratory, you will conduct routine tests/measures and assist in various research endeavors. Your responsibilities will include aiding investigators in conducting studies and procedures encompassing tasks such as data collection, solution preparation, and equipment setup and maintenance. This position will involve research animal contact and may involve human specimens.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
- Assists investigators or senior researchers in conducting research studies.
- Performs routine tests and measures following established protocols and procedures.
- Collaborates with laboratory members to ensure accurate and timely completion of tasks. Participate in data collection activities and maintain detailed records of experimental procedures and results.
- May prepare solutions, reagents, and other materials required for laboratory-based experiments. May set up and maintain equipment, ensuring proper functioning and calibration.
- Adheres to safety protocols and maintains a clean and organized research environment.
- Order supplies for the laboratory.
- Maintain mouse colony and perform genotyping.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Work Characteristics
- Previous research experience or coursework preferred, but on the job training is available.
- Candidates must be willing to work with mice.
- Preferences Prior experience with molecular biology techniques, even if exposure is only through laboratory coursework, is preferred.
- Any prior experience in a basic research laboratory is preferred.
Hourly Range: $15.00- $24.40
Education
- High School or GED required.
- Previous research experience or coursework preferred
