Job Summary : Reporting to the Director of Human Resources (HR), the HR Generalist at the University of Alabama System Office (UAS) serves as a key contributor to the human resources team by providing comprehensive support across all areas of HR. This role focuses on fostering a supportive work environment, ensuring compliance with System Office policies and regulations, and delivering exceptional service to employees and leadership.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Serve as the initial HR contact to provide guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices
- Coordinate the recruitment process, including posting job openings, screening applicants, and assisting hiring managers
- Oversee onboarding and offboarding programs to ensure new employees have a seamless transition into and out of the organization
- Provide extensive support to employees related to benefits, work with vendors to resolve benefit issues, and coordinate annual benefits enrollment
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and System Office regulations, including FLSA, FMLA, EEO, and ADA
- Support employee development by coordinating training programs and workshops as well as managing the performance management platform
- Maintain HR systems to ensure data accuracy and functionality; use HR systems to generate reports and metrics to support decision-making and identify trends
- Contribute to HR initiatives such as wellness activities and employee engagement strategies
- Participate in system-wide projects and provide HR expertise as needed
- Contribute to strategic growth of the department through process improvement, continuing education, and employee communication strategies
